[VHFcontesting] LOTW and VHF

I set up my LoTW account a couple of years ago and I won't go back. The HF
digital crowd is VERY good at turning in their logs. Many HF contesters
also upload their logs every time out. VHFers missed the boat somehow.
I've uploaded thousands of VHF contacts from contests dating back a decade
with very poor QSL results. Every once in a while one of the stations will
get on LoTW and I'll get a ton QSLs from just that one guy! LoTW has really
motivated me to try for awards like VUCC, WAS and DXCC both on VHF and HF.
I hope that more VHF stations will take the plunge. It's not all that
difficult.

I'm afraid I'm one of the hold outs...

I tried setting up LOTW a couple of years ago, and ran into problems. Got
the postcard from the ARRL, and had tons of trouble getting the software to
work... Finally gave it up.

I've been planning to take the plunge again, likely after I get FD over I'll
work on it again.

I guess what I'm saying is the "rough" roll out of LOTW was likely a big
culprit in the low return rates. I am a pretty serious computer user, and I
had enough trouble setting it up that I gave up. I would bet there are a
lot of other folks out there that will never try it again... I know there
are several OT's in my local club who still refuse to use computer
logging...

BTW, if you are looking for a card from me, I will be on LOTW soon, I
promise:-) If you don't want to wait, shoot me an email, I would be happy
to send you a card!

And, I will be running the VHF station this weekend for W9WWI field day
station in EM78! Planning to use my Rover gear, so we will have 6, 2, 222,
& 432. Yagi's & 100+ watts each...
