[VHFcontesting] Jan VHF - KF2MR/R and N2QIP/R

KF2MR/R and N2QIP/R plan to be active in
the January VHF contest from FN02/FN03/FN12/FN13 (at least) near Le
Roy and Rochester NY. KF2MR has 50-1296 MHz all modes. N2QIP has SSB
on 50/144/432 and FM on 223/927/1294 with mobile antennas. We can
operate FM while mobile (all bands). There will be no schedule
this time, but KF2MR can be tracked on APRS (first time trying this,
updated hourly or when arriving at a new spot). I hope this will add
to the fun factor and reduce the stress of trying to meet a
schedule. In general, we will spend Saturday afternoon in Northeast
FN02 and Southeast FN03 and then figure things out from there. We
will make a point to support the FM operators during the local FM
activity hour at 8pm both nights. Weather is looking “good” (32F)
by WNY standards for Saturday afternoon, but we will need to keep an eye on the snow
Saturday night and Sunday morning. First January VHF contest as a
rover and hoping for the best!
