They are very small.  I'm sure that 20 years ago, they were much larger.

In part, thanks to this thread, I made a serious attempt to diagnose
my own 6-pin mini-DIN issue ...  Turns out if you look at the diagram
for the SOCKET when you are wiring up a PLUG, you will be left-right
mirrored.  Oops.  Double checking myself now ... soldering iron is hot
...
