Thanks Bruce for your help! In the mean time John sent me the DLL. I'll
keep this note for reference if ever I need it.

Hi Kim
I happened to find a copy of my original response... it's at the end of this
note.

Hi Jim,
Assuming that you are running Windows98, here's one way:
>From START, select PROGRAMS, then ACCESSORIES, then SYSTEM TOOLS, then
doubleclick on the System Information program icon.
In the System Information program, click on Tools, the click on System File
Checker. The System File Checker program will offer a choice of extracting
one file, click on this choice. You will be asked to enter the name of the
file to be extracted (from the Windows98 cab files), enter the
missing/damaged file, msvcp50.dll, in your case, then click START.
A new dialog box will appear confirming the filename you want to extract,
and two more items to fill in, the first will ask where to restore from, the
second where to restore to. If your system has the Windows98 CAB files
available, you may see a dropdown arrow choice of something like
c:\windows\options...\cab, use this choice if available, otherwise you will
need to have a copy of the Windows98 disk handy and will need to find the
path to the cab files on it. The restore to choice defaulted to
windows\system which is where you want it anyway. When you have supplied the
data source info, hit Enter, and the file will be restored a whole lot
faster than it took me to write this!!
