[WriteLog] usb to serial

My main computer's PS died last night. No time to swap PS so I am going to
go with the laptop for the next 2 weekends.
Searched the archives but did not find a defintive answer on this question:
I thought I saw someone had success with byterunner USB adaptors but I can't
find the e-mail. Are byterunner products direct only? What else works? Saw
the AA5AU site, best guidance I've seen so far. Anyone have anything to add?
Jopefully the laptop will end up with 2 working COM prots so I can rig
sontrol and send CW for this weekend.
