MANY of the contest modules have this bug. A required field should be just
that, if the rules require it then the field should be required. You can fix
it by editing the configuration but this should NOT be required of the user.
The 10-10 contest module was like that. You could leave out the QTH serial
number and it would merrily log the contact. Not good. I think that has been
fixed.
This is another reason that the FIRST new feature of WriteLog IMHO ought to
be a GUI interface to define almost any contest that you want. The use of
the Wizard and VC++ is far to hard for most and too time consuming and too
prone to error.

In my opinion this is about the ONLY place that WriteLog SERIOUSLY lags
TRLOG. I realize it is not a GUI in TRLOG but that is because TRLOG is a DOS
program. The configuration file is in plain text though so it can be
understood.

I still think WriteLog is a better contesting program during use but is a
tough (read time consuming) nut to set up each time you create a new contest

I realize this may be a LARGE undertaking, that is fine and I would be
willing to pay for it.
If it required a fair upgrade fee when this is added I would be more than
happy to pay it.
