Actually, this has already been done. LeaderboardLive allows willing WriteLog operators to share scores automagically during the
contest at periodic intervals. Unfortunately, I don't think it is supported anymore, which is too bad. I like the concept of
competitors egging each other on during the contest by seeing their relative performance. It adds another dimension of fun (for
some of us, at least).

Subject: [WriteLog] The Future Of Contest Software

Here's a chance for WriteLog to be "first on the block" :-)

I'm beta testing a contest club PHP/MySQL Database webpage which
auto-updates a Grand Total and correctly positions the contestor's scores
in the rankings high-to-low. Much more will be added.

In the process of working on this, I caught a glimpse of the "future".

That being, contest software which auto-calculates a total score (and
maybe other info), and at a predetermined interval...every 10 minutes,
etc.) auto-dials to connect the club's website and posts the info to the
Database which auto-sorts things based upon various statistical parameters.
Or, if always online with DSL or a T-1 line, so much better :-)

Umh, this will provide contest club Team Captains with almost real-time
info so they can crack the whip on pee-poor rates-per-hour folks or
whatever needs to be done to boost efficiency and scores!

Go WriteLog :-)
