[WriteLog] Multi-Keyer PTT Problems

I had a couple of problems with the Multi-Keyer during the ARRL 10 meter contest. I ran two radios, both modes, low power during the contest. The Multi-Keyer controls the PTT, CW and headphones on both radios. SSB is through the computer sound board & RIGblaster.

I was using the L radio to CQ on SSB by pushing the enter key (entry window is empty). Occasionally I change the keyboard focus to S&P CW stations on the R radio. I push the down arrow key to move the focus to the L radio. I push the enter key to send another CQ - after the CQ the PTT does not release. If I tap the paddle, then the PTT releases. I am sending the CQ on SSB (soundboard through RIGblaster), and the paddle needs to key to release the SSB PTT. If I hit enter again, the same thing happens - the PTT does not release - I have to hit the paddle. This continues indefinitely, until I cycle the power on the keyer, then everything goes back to normal. It works fine for an hour or so, then back into this mode. It seems to me the problem is instigated by something I do on the 2nd radio - maybe when I change the headphone mode - but I don't know for sure.

The second problem is when I am running a timed Auto-Resume CW CQ on the L radio, and S&P SSB on the right radio. I change the keyboard focus to the R radio and enter a callsign. I push the function key to send my call (SSB) on the right radio - the radio keys for only about 1/4 second, then unkeys and the CQ is resumed on the L radio. I immediately push the function key again - this time my call is sent correctly, in SSB on the right radio, and the CQ is resumed on the L radio. Again, this doesn't happen all of the time, just occasionally.

The third issue is similar to the 2nd issue, except the L radio PTT is not always enabled when the auto CQ restarts on the L radio. Subsequent CQs are ok, just the auto resume CQ sometimes doesn't enable the PTT. I lived with this by going to full break-in on that radio.

All of these issues seem to be caused by the PTT control in the Multi-Keyer going into a strange mode. The serial port for the L radio, the one where the PTT is acting up, is going through the Multi-Keyer. I have ports set up: Comm PTT = NO, CW keyer type= W5XD multi+, and CW PTT = On LPT pin 16/COM RTS.

Anyone have any suggestions?
