Thanks for all the replies.

Apparently, the mic has to be continually connected to the soundcard's mic =
input for this all to work.

I have done that, and thus far, I can record messages and the MSG#.WAV file=
s go where they should. When I press the F-Keys they play, but the output l=
evel is very, very low and not high enough to drive the radio at all - or i=
t's not going to the radio.  I know that something is wrong, but I have not=
 figured it out yet.  Also, I am getting a feedback that I think may be int=
ernal to the sound card as it is not affected by the mic being connected or=
 not.

The audio level is capable of going way too high when I do RTTY. ???
