HARDWARE manufacturer should still fix it.  No point in enshrining
mediocrity.

Except the bug exists in the HARDWARE drivers from FTDI, Prolific
and nearly every other USB chipset manufacturer... that driver becomes
part of the operating system.  It is not within the control of companies
like microHAM to rewrite those drivers (and they probably could not
legally do so).

Other software (e.g. MMTTY, MixW, etc) simply opens/initializes the
port at the operating data rate or at a legal data rate before setting
the desired data rate.  I don't know if Writelog is using the "open at
0 baud" to check for port availability but it would seem that opening
at 1200 baud or 9600 baud would accomplish the same thing while
avoiding the problem.
