Hi Wayne,
thanks for your recommendations. In the meanwhile I made a check in the reflector and found a message from Don AA5AU on January 13, 2016 that explains how to set up WL in order to get the problem solved; for everyone convenience the solution is pasted herebelow, thanks Don!

Running WriteLog version 12, I just got the CW decoder to work. I did it by
going to the Sound board mixer control in the WriteLog start menu group. The
Sound board mixer control for version 12 is quite different than version 11.
It allows you to choose between Two Radios on One Device or Seperate Devices
per Radio (two soundcards). I chose to "switch to separate device per radio"
even though I have only one radio. For the Left Radio setting, I chose my
soundcard in the Rcvr drop down menu, then clicked OK. I opened WriteLog,
then went to the Setup menu and to Setup CW Decoder. In the Setup CW Decoder
window, I chose Stereo (2 radios) even though I'm only running one radio and
clicked OK. I then clicked on Start CW Receive in the CW decoder display
window and it started receiving.

The routing of receiver audio to MMTTY is not related in WriteLog to the
routing of CW audio to its CW decoder.

The configuration of the audio routing for CW audio is using the Start
Menu entry, WriteLog V12 / Sound board mixer control. You describe a one
radio setup, so you can use either of its two setup modes (one device
per radio, or two radios on one device.) In either mode, its the
"Receiver Audio" selection that determines where WriteLog will get its
    audio.

Another bit of magic (sorry this is so obscure--I should figure out a
better way) is that you must choose in WriteLog Setup/Ports, DVK-Type as
Sound Board in order to make the multi-pitch CW decoder work.
