Well Keith very good suggestion, I tried to modification for the message but it had not effect on the delay.

%RTEST KC4HW KC4HW CQ %E

I think it is simply a matter of having the %R first in the message.

what do you hear going out the radio?  

I suspect the print to the window is in a different process from the serial characters going to the radio.

I do recall experiencing this, but, didn’t hear the radio delay at all.
