Try it at home station to see how it works
if you like writelog, logically you'll like the remote...
I have laptop in different room than station
Tested first on local network, then set cell phone as hot spot and tested
again.
Then road trip(s) - NICE CW operation from remote 
Haven't done SSB yet, RTTY works fine too.

I use Remote PC software if something goes amiss and need to adjust audio
levels on rig computer
Not sure what the Remote boxes would be for using writelog software
The nice thing is when you sit down at home station, nothing has changed.

Your home router - Forward ports for writelog to the fixed IP computer at
rig site
