Hi!
Althought I planned to work 40m SOSB, things changed:
I met DH5YDT, Daniel (17 Yrs) on Friday evening and told him about my
plans...and he asked if he could join me... As there was no SB MO class,
we decided to work MOAB-LP from my QTH. Fortunately I could use the clubcall
DF0RE. After instructing Daniel to K1EA's CT, the contest started on 40m...
The condx on all bands were quite good, the big-guns were all over 599 on
5 bands (we didn't try 160m). 5-Band-QSO's were made with:
KC1XX, K1RX, K1AR, K1XM, W3LPL, K1DG, W3PP, K5ZD and N4AF.
At all 45 States and 3 VE-Provinces were worked.
Following WWYC members were worked (heard if non-NA)
N4GI, WX0B (N5NU opr), YU7AL, SL3A, OZ1AA, N0MJ, N6MJ (I surely forgot some!)
The best hour was Sunday, 14utc: 45 QSO's on 28 Mc (S&P),worst one was
00utc on Sunday, 5 QSO's were made (oops, must have been very tired...)
At all the Rate was ca. 30 Q/h
By the way: I was doing S&P for 95% of the QSO's. For CQ'ing I was simply too
weak...
We were QRV for about 20 hrs.. that's because Daniel had to leave on
Saturday evening and ... cuz I had school on monday, so I made QRT 3 hrs b4
end of contest. Ironically I couldn't sleep until 0100z... 700 QSO's would
have been possible...???
For the SSB-Part, Daniel and I are trying to get a bigger team and operate
from a clubstation nearby (3el tribander, 40m up; Slooping FD-4) on a former
tower of a coal mine which is located on a hill with 360 deg free view....
Then 48hrs operation time should be possible and maybe 1000+ QSO's.
(Not sure yet; call will be DH5YDT or DF0RE anyway)
