Hi everyone,

Sorry it's been so long since my last post - too much work and too many
contests !

Also apologies that I couldn't make the sked, but I just had to go to bed
else I would not have got up in time to operate in the contest. I did
about as well as Hrle - not very pleased with the results !

I must put the list of WWYCs in my logging program so I know who you are
when I work you - but with WPX there were so many unusual callsigns of
course !

With WRTC / IARU coming up, and it looks like being a popular contest for
WWYCers, why don't we have our own competition between us and list our own
scores in a table ? A good idea ?

Anyway, here's my WPX summary:

G0MTN CQ WPX CW 2000 10m LP (TS)
671 QSOs 1009 Pts 341 WPXs 344069 pts

Operating Times:
Saturday 0530Z (up at 430Z to get to club shack) till 2100Z
Sunday 0800Z till 2100Z
Total 28.5 hours

Oh dear. Someone has stolen that nice 10m band and replaced it with a
rubbish one instead. Was there a JA opening in the morning ? Not that I
could find. Did the band open to North America about lunchtime, leaving me
able to run 3 pt USA stations for a few hours in the afternoon ? No way. The
QSB was appalling - more like 2m than 10m. Mainly short skip to EU, DX QSOs
quite rare. Apart from some outstanding DXpedition signals most signals were
S4 or below from here. I actually did check my antennas and feeders to make
sure nothing was amiss. Only 169 3 pt QSOs. What was happening in OK ? I
worked 70 Czech stations (10% of all QSOs) which was unusual but very
fortunate to get my numbers up. A pity there weren't more OK multipliers
though ! Overall very disappointing. Trust me not to keep an eye on the band
before the contest, but after 20m LP in 98, 15m LP in 99, and no overnight
pass I didn't have much choice. An all band effort next year I hope.
