[WWYC] 48 hours...

Hello,
some things I experienced:
When I was operating for 36 hours in the WPX CW this year, I really felt
DEAD at the end. When i got back home, I had no more problem to stay
awake. The monotonism of the contest QSOs (especially when doing 99% S&P
as i do) probably makes you very tired. I discovered that listening to
music (of course not too loud :) or watching TV or even reading a
newspaper while contesting can actually help your concentration! I read
the whole CQ-DL in the IOTA contest in July :)
I have never drunken coke or beer while conesting, only mineral-water,
about 1 litre per 24 hours (I think that's enough since I don't move
much), and I also never eat much while serious SO contesting. I will try
to make a 48-hour-effort in the ARRL-DX CW 2002. My longest operation
period till now was about 42 hours...
Another thing I tried in the IOTA contest was doing a 5-minute-session
of PED Autopileup just when i almost fell asleep. That gave me a lot of
adrenaline and suddenly i was wide awake.
I think 48h-operating is a mainly question of motivation, not a physical
one :)
