Woohoo, those 8 hours of sleep made me human again. This de-zombification process was
needed after the weekend. And what a weekend. 1388 QSOs! With my setup! I made a
parallel wire dipole for 80/20/15/10 that seems to work pretty good for what it is,
and I already knew my 40m vertical dipole could hold its own in a contest. Add 100W,
shake well and you get ON5ZO's personal best score ever! Who'd ever think that I
would make the most QSos on 80m? Mostly EU though. 40m has a higher point-score with
most 3-pointers.
Mostly S&P, I went up 'n down the bands all the time. Some smaller runs once in a
while, even on 80m! I think that running is more fun and maybe it is less exhausting
in the long run because you are constantly busy. Conditions were not that good I
think. Nothing worked from VK/ZL land, not even 1 QSO. Even ZL6QH was weak. And did I
miss all the PY/LU's or were they just not as plenty as in other contests?

I was assisted, but actually I did more mult-hunting myself. Packet spots for good DX
atract a massive pile up, so small guns like me lose a lot of time. I chose to move
on and go looking for sweet stuff that wasn't spotted yet. Except on 40m where I can
et through pretty fast most of the times. I was listening to a real DX station that
hadn't been spotted yet, I forgot the call (I think it was the 5U station). He was
just starting on a frequency, I could work him after some calls, I was hoping that no
one would spot him before I worked him. He had a good rate even without the spots. I
worked him but kept listening and waiting to see a spot coming in. Then there was a
spot, and half a minute later there was a pile up and everyone kept caling and his
rate collapsed because no one would listen and jut keep on calling.
I'm used to packet, I was 'raised' like that as a contester, but I maybe I should
consider of dropping packet? I've done it before and it works, and I haven't had a
lot of benefit of it this weekend like I described above.

73, CU all, maybe (just maybe) in ARRL 10m.
