Hrle, most (if not all) clubs need someone that stands up and takes action for others
to follow. You (and a handful of others) have done this for us and I appreciate that
and I am most grateful that you did. Don't feel bad, you do a great job and I know
your actions and initiatives are sincere for the benefit of the hobby and WWYC in
particular. Likewise, you and your fellow Meeting'04 palls are doing great work
too...
About the voting: discussion seems to focus on "WHO" but I'd like to know "WHAT" this
person can/should do for WWYC in the CQ WW committee? I think it doesn't matter who
this person is, he should only be the spokesman for WWYC and not the 'spiritual
leader' or decision maker/taker. That is why I voted for a given person, NOT because
he is a better or worse operator that any one else, NOT because he is funnier or a
bigger SOB than any one else, NOT because I QSO'd him on CW or SSB or did/did not get
his QSL, but simply because I feel that given the circumstances and the way the cards
are on the table, this person can most likely accomplish the most for WWYC. That to
me is the only issue that matters, not where he lives, what he looks like or what his
callsign might be.
BTW: WWYC to me is NOT those +400 calls in the member list but those guys that show
up on the #IRC from time to time and actually make QSOs and submit logs for WWYC, all
bands and modes aside. If we are contesters, then contesting is what we should do! We
should focus on contesting, rates, WRTC and scores and the rest will follow. Making a
'board' of some kind might easily push WWYC off the tracks and result in an ego
tripping situation.
Only my opinion, of course...
