That was good fun for us - we worked DM7A at a bit over 800km on 1.3 GHz
with signals so strong, we could have made the QSO on SSB easily. Actually,
we probably could have done it on FM. Maybe even ATV!

I'm pretty sure it was DJ1YFK at the other end for a great two-way lid QSO.

Our new site is a lot further north and is *incredible* for tropo across the
North Sea into northern DL, OZ and even southern Sweden. ODX here was over
900km into SM7 and I'm pretty sure we could have cracked the 1000km mark if
there had have been a well equipped station on the SP coast to try a sked
with.

In two years we have gone from making 42 QSOs on 1.3 GHz in this contest to
making 142 at an average distance of 355km for something over 50,000 points.
Lid Power strikes again! Or, to be fair, the guy who designed the setup is
76 but has a lot of lid operators and tower erectors with him.

Things weren't as good for us on the lower bands - although the other G-big
guns were also well down on 2 so maybe it was conditions. We did work YL at
something over 1200km on 70cm.
