[Yaesu] Question about MD100 mic

Question of the day???

The cord that is supplied with the MD100 had a 6p RJ plug on one end and a
classic 8pin mic plug on the other. On my Ft920 I obviously plug the 6p plug
into the base of themic, then plug the 8p plug into the radio. 

HOWEVER, I also noticed that the mic has an 8pin round jack. Can I reverse the
cable by plugging the 8p round plug into the MD100 and plug the 6p mod plug
into my FT8000R VHF/UHF rig ?????
