[Yaesu] FT-1000 Filters

I have an FT-1000 that I am thinking of adding another 500hz filter to
the third IF for the upcoming contest season.  I was wondering if anyone
else had done this and if any improvment in the bandwidth was noticed.

I have also noticed that AES sells this filter as a Collins filter.
Is this supposed to be a better filter than the one from Yaesu.
