Hi Jeff,
If you can get her running good, the FT-101 (especially the E,EE,EX models),
is a terrific rig. I still use mine after 25 years. With proper care, I am
still using the tubes installed in 1977 and it will still do 125-175 watts,
depending on the band. Hopefully yours hasn't been hacked or cooked by a
CBer. They did indeed work very well on CB (if it had the AM filter), but
if it is keyed down with more than 150mA for more than 10 seconds, it'll
burn the finals up and maybe some of the inductors.

1. The ACCessory plug is needed to jumper pins 1 and 2 to apply heater
voltage to the 6JS6C's. It also accesses the HV's (600, 300, 160, -100V),
the transmit/receive relay - ground on transmit and ground on receive, and
is the ALC input from a linear ie FL2100B.
They are offered on EBay all the time.

2. Can't tell you much about the lamps, I haven't had to replace any yet.
(Where is that block of wood I knock on?) I know the one over the VFO is
supposed to be a bear to get to. I is a 14V, 40 mA wire lead type. You
have to remove the main tuning knob and the escutcheon which is held by 2
screws. The other 3 are indeed 16V bayonet types. I would would check with
Radio Shack. You might get lucky (R.S. doesn't seem to have much anymore).
Yes I said 3 - There is one for the meter, one for the dial, and one in the
rear near the RF jack which is used as an RF fuse to protect the front end
from damage in the presence of too strong of a nearby signal.

3. I found a 12 pin Cinch-Jones plug for the power at a local electronics
shop, and made my own DC Power cord. You will need the schematic as it is
internally jumpered on several pins so the same plug can be used on AC and
DC. BE CAREFULL!!! The Cinch-Jones plug fits and looks identical, but the
pin numbers are reversed from the Japanese version. It is a mirror image.
So you can have your own fireworks if you wire it up like the book shows.

4. I HIGHLY and STRONGLY recommend getting the Service Manual, sometimes
available on EBay, and some other Amateur Radio manual vendors such as A.G.
Tannenbaum's may have it.

Also there was the Fox Tango Club that put out newletters from 1972 to 1985.
Around then, International Radio took over and they sell back issues. You
can get the whole library for $65.00. You will learn a lot if you read them
through.

Have fun and good luck.
73's,
Rick WD8JJA
