Rob,

I did not look at the original message and only noted later that the message
was related to the Mark V Field. I agree with the information not being as
apparent in that model's manual.

Also for what it is worth, I had an FT-990DC some time back and wanted to
buy the power supply to upgrade it to an AC model. While it is true that the
power supplies for the FT-990AC, the FT-1000MP/AC, and the Mark V Field are
interchangeable, I was told by Yaesu that the current unit is an upgrade and
carries a different model designation. That designation escapes me now. But,
when I heard the price, I suddenly decided that the DC model of the FT-990
was not so bad after all!!

yes Bill that's right--the 13.8/30 v. supply for the 200 w. rig is a
switching supply. The same information on the Field is not out there where
I have been able to find it.

Rob,

Maybe the manuals have different versions, but my recently purchased Mark V
FT-1000MP has the external switching supply and it is clearly called out as
such in the literature I received at the time of buying the radio. It is
also in the transceiver manual and in the separate power supply data sheet.
