[Yaesu] FT1000D

I have found all of the Yaesu HF rigs to be excellent. The one you choose
is a matter of personal taste. My first was the 101E purchased back in
1977. It gave me many years of enjoyment. About 10 years ago I was about
to buy a 1000D when the Icom 775DSP was announced. I bought it because it
had built-in DSP. I still have it and use it for SSB ops during Field Day.
However, my main rig is now a 9000D, and it is fantastic! It reminds me of
a super-duper 1000D because it has virtually every feature imaginable.

I agree...

I have the D and an MP. Unless there have been quantum leaps in performance
improvements made in the Mark V version I don't find it to be any better.
Got lots more gadgetry to play with but none of that has made it able to
hear anything I can't also hear on the D and I personally think the D has
more pleasing audio. I'm also using it with the timewave DSP built into the
Yaesu speaker.

The D has held it's value much better than the later models as well...

Just my 2 cents worth...
