[Yaesu] Battery current draw in an old FT-980

I have an atomic wall clock that uses two AA batteries. I put in two of the
Energizer Lithium batteries and the clock is still running after 6 years.
Those batteries read between 1.8 and 1.6 volts in normal use. Once they
fall to 1.5, they usually are gone within a month or so.

is. I suspect it is very low. I have two options other than the AA
batteries...a 3 Vdc wall transformer and a 3V battery used in a game boy.
I don't see a question in there, but I would investigate the expensive
high energy lithium cells (in the AA form factor) that put out 1.50 Volts, a
pair should last for years.
