Hi John,

Thank you for your reply and the information. I don’t know if your problem is the same as I one that I am having – it sounds like they are different. I am going to do some more investigation – but I will keep your “fix” in mind.

Tnx & 73

Robert (KQ2M):

Around 10 years ago, I was having problems with an intermittent DSP on my FT1000MP. That may be connected with the problem you are having. I could never find where the intermittent operation was coming from, so I ended up buying a new Analog DSP Board from Vertex Standard. The P/N is CA1444001 and costs less than $150 after shipping and taxes. It was easy to remove and replace, and that fixed the problem. Hope this helps.

You will find the APF control useful to reduce band noise. Tune into a band at an open freq and adjust you APF while watching your S-Meter. My APF is on all of the time and usually around a setting of 1 which is where it reduces the band noise considerably. If I need it to peak a CW signal, I then move it to the correct setting to peak the signal I am trying to listen to. Other than that, my APF is on all the time and usually at a setting around 1. Try it while watching you S Meter. You will find it reduces band noise while not significantly affecting signals in the bandpass.
