I wish ALL American amplifier manufacturers would take a long look at the
TL-922 construction quality. Altho it may have a few technical problems
it does not have the 160/80M tank coil fall off from heat!

I have always built my own amplifiers with the same concept, bolt it all
together with brass/copper hardware and then solder over on top of that.
You will never wind up with a RF crystallized solder joint or components
falling off that way. Most of that I learned as a Navy ET and later on
as a tech at National Radio. (we built military amps up to 10KW besides
the ham stuff).

It is a damn shame that well engineered products often fall prey to the
marketing department dollar axe.

As far as Rick's comments..Im at a loss. I use TS940's to test all of my
amp repairs and have two TL-922's here today. There is no problem with
input VSWR or obtaining 1100-1200W on 10 or 12M without any ATU in the
exciter. Wiring error???

Forget trying to bugger the PS it works fine, lasts a long time as is.
Leave the PS mods to the CBers. Peter Dahl loves that crowd!
Just concentrate on IMPROVING what you have with a HV current limiting
resistor, etc. You may still have the same tubes for 25 years if ur
careful.
