Indeed, as was Mr. Rauch's inflated anode current rating of over 500mA.  
The Eimac rating for a 3-500z was never higher than 400mA.  Operation at 
higher currents makes SSB doo-doo.

However, according to several users, the tank inductor insulating 
material in the AL-1200  may melt during RTTY operation.  It might be a 
good idea to retrofit a small fan in the amplifier to direct cool air at 
the tank inductors -- or one could increase the size of the conductors.
