Big input cycles that arrive before the screen capacitor builds up a 
charge do not produce lots of anode current.

If this is true, the amplifier will have less gain with small input 
cycles and it will have more gain with big input cycles.  This situation 
does not describe a linear device.  To have the same gain with all levels 
of input cycles, regulate screen potential.
