?  ... not for those who have a free supply of 4PR1000As.  For those who 
don't, 7.2v is mo' betta. 
--  The math:  Since relative emissive life of a thoriated tungsten 
cathode is (E1/E2)^23.4,  8.3v/7.2v^23.4 = 27.8 x more emissive life at 
the lower V.
