My only thought is that you must have one heck of a quiet shack if an
Alpha 86 is loud! I have one (with the optional extra fan) and it is
the quietest air-cooled amplifier I have ever had.
If yours is loud, perhaps there is a problem with the bearings in one of
the fans?
