Hi all,

As for the SS, some AF tube amplifiers are excellent, while
others are not so. There are some guys (maybe like us?!)
which are still making their own vacuum tube AF amplifiers,
and some are quite good. As for us radio amateurs, the russain
tubes got a new breath for them also. A popular tube now is
the Sovtek 6C33 60W glass triode which may be used for
OTL (Output Transformer Less) amplifiers which make
no need for the expensive output transformer. Combining
a input SS stage with vacuum tube output stage is not unusual also.
Time ago, while searching the web I saw a JA webpage who
made two "monoblock" amplifiers, all class A triodes.
He had to reconsider the house power wiring and to install
air contitioning system for the room where he was using them...
[How many of us are using class A high power RF linears now?!]
And the amount of related web info and work is quite impressive.
Usually, the commercial vacuum tubes audio amps are very
expensive, more expensive than some legal limit amateur amps...
Unusual is the computer mainboard with the vacuum tube.
It used the 6922 double triode as low level amp.

It may be interresting some technical articles about
the vacuum tube AF amplifiers on the Svetlana's website.
http://www.spectrum.ieee.org/select/0898/tube.html
http://www.svetlana.com/docs/TechBulletins/technote21.html

As usual, I still don't forget that some commercial interrest
exist there for promoting the info...
Note that while the www.svetlana.com home website is no
more available, the website's pages are still available.
Just go using the webpage's links.

There is also an article about a 3CX300 AF amp!:
