Joe,
I'm not trying to justify the use of 10kW on the Amateur Bands on a regular
basis. The validity of such a beast while debatable, has certain merits. Any
one would be foolish to think this guy only used legal limit or less all the
time, just like the rest of us push it occasionally. However, to put out an
edict that 500W is enough all the time is foolish as well. I personally have
expereinced it -NOT- being enough more than once, so I know better.

Like Rich says, if you have a Corvette and the highway is clear, will you do
<70 mph, 100% of the time?

  BTW, what's "irregardless" mean?? :-)

I didn't doubt that he was a ham( I checked it out myself). I just question
someone going to the evilbay and selling something that he could have
advertised on ham reflectors. Too many people will sell something
irregardless of whether it is illegal or not. Trying to justify using 10 kW
on the hambands because of use in military use is comparing apples and
oranges, besides, satellite has replaced a lot of HF circuits there. I have
never run more than 500 watts myself, and before I will, I will improve my
antenna system.
