I've mounted relays to chassis using clear silicon calk. They stay in place
very well. Also have mounted Electrolytic caps in a HV supply using silicon.

TenTec uses double sided tape to hold the multipurpose meter in the 
Titan 425 front panel.  Although I love the amp, I was not impressed by 
that method of mounting.  OTOH, it seems to work.
