Alex,

A light weight single band amp has already been done. Check the Jan/Feb 2006 
issue of QEX on page 41,

Dick, K5AND, describes a 6 meter, 8877 amp that he developed that uses an 
existing commercially available HV switching power supply that will put out 
1.5 KW on 6 meters. The total weight (amp and power supply) was 20 pounds.
