Nothing wrong with shutting off the PS quickly, but if you leave the filter caps
charged, any damage from the B+ arc will involve much more energy than if the B+
line were opened by a fuse and/or limited by a glitch resistor and/or crowbarred
to ground.
In other words, the quick shut-off should not be the only protection device.
