In one amp I use a Jennings vacuum contactor.
They are cheap on Ebay from time to time.

Marv...Can you direct me to a roadmap for this type of device?I have always 
used series resistance in the B+ of my YC-156 amps but lightning fast high 
voltage cutoff seems a much better solution for tube&component

  The device I've proposed is located in the plate supply line between the 
PS filter caps and the tube.

  It is NOT on the primary side of the supply.
