Subject: [Amps] A dual 4-1000 amp

I've got a wild hair up my derriere about building something. A project. I
got two spools of soldier over here and a darned good soldiering station.
It's about darned time I used it.

## You mean soldering station ? I have 2 of those... + several
'american beauty' real soldering irons, the 100/150.560 w types,
with the 3/8" and 1/2" tips. Don't laugh, they are still industry standards.

Now for the questions:

1. Why shouldn't I build it?

## Is this your 1st project? Have you built anything before ? If so,
what ? Can you do metal work? HB amps are 90% metal work.

2. Ya'll think I could?
## No, not with out a lot of help. Do you have lot's of tools... like
greenlee's, bandsaw, 12" disc grinder, drill press, etc, etc,

3. Money is really gonna be an issue.
## What is your budget? $1k $3K $5k

 Wanna help?
## No, but you might be eligible under some Obama 'yes we can'
Fed program.

:) Michigan Sucks, and
it's economy sucks worse. it is crimping my style. (read: Unemployed since
2005!)

## do you live in Flint Mich? Say 'hi' to Michael Moore for me.

4. I'd really like to build one with 4 x 4-1000's call it the M.F'er 5K (but
that's just my wild nutty side of me speaking...)

## a pair will do almost 5 kw out. 4 of em will do some serious
damage. What bands do you want it to operate on?

5. Band-switching, filtering and all that. Yes, Yes and Yes. :) I'd like to
find the filtering boards pre-built and power supply boards prebuilt.

## what filter's ? What pwr supply boards?

 But I
would LOVE the challenge of at least putting the parts on myself. Not so
much on the filter board. I mean, the filter board, that keeps the signal
pure... Not the Power supply filtering.. :) I hate winding coils...

## If you mean a LP filter, then get the Henry radio 10 kw CCS unit. It's
very well constructed, and a bargain, built like a tank. Yikes, I forgot, they
don't make it anymore, but it's very easy to reverse engineer. Henry radio will
still sell you all the required parts..including the 8 x HT-57 15 kv caps. [all
NPO]

Now for some thoughts and ramblings.

## I'm ready.

No, I have never done this sort of a thing before.

## perhaps you should ask your doctor. Viagra
or Cialis may help. Prozac is another option. Do you
have free medical ?

 Yes, I am about half
bat-poop stinky crazy to try it. Yes, I do know the power requirements.

## at 10 kw pep out, it will suck 20 kva out of the wall plug. How much
are you paying for a kwh ?

 Yes,
I do know that I could get the crap shocked outta me and killed ---- it
comes with the territory. No, I couldn't really do the 4 bulb box --- this
POS MFJ 989C would go into orbit.

### Actually, it would explode, and catch on fire, then burn your desk and
house to the ground. Do you have home owners insurance ? Are you paid up ?
BTW, what ant's are you using for the various bands ? How high is the tower ?

Meters... it's got to have HUGE lighted meters that measure everything and
everybody the more the better. It would have to have a show off window. I
wanna look at my bulbs. Yes, I know the darned circuits have to built for
all that, more project fun.

## Forget a 19" rack. You need a bare min of a 24" wide rack.
4" meter's are readily available.

I also want to buy, find or whatever, the biggest loudest, 757 Airplane
motor spooling up sounding blower motor that I can find for it. I WANT
people to say stuff like, "Oh Lord A-Mighty --- He's turning the big iron
on!" (or at least the big bulbs...)

### where are you planning to locate the amp... in the chicken coop,
living room, or out house?

What I want is a two piece unit.... The bulbs would go on the desk. The
power supply would go in the corner. Connected by cabling.

## well, it can't be connected by wireless.

Just something that's been swirling in the back of my mind for a while now.

Hope Ya'll's Thanksgiving was great!

## Tnx, I had my thanksgiving just over a month ago.
How did you manage 23,126 look ups on QRZ.com ?
Your political website is pretty cool. I'm sure you could get
a job as press secretary for sarah palin.

Later.. Jim VE7RF

73 and keep the bulbs warm...
