Those new caps are fine and on a par with the CDE 381LX series.

The improved 381LR is the current standard of comparison for ripple current ability. Cost is lower too.

The only way to completely test caps is in a PS running at its intended voltage and current. You can do an approximation with a 0-450V bench supply and what ever resistive load it can take safely and monitor case temperature and current thru the cap AND at the load.

Not any link making me wiser Carl, most links to ebay ads as you also refer to, so they may be Chinese now converted to US Made to ease sales... As most companies have a web page these days strange I did not find anything for TCI at least indicating they produce el caps. But most less expensive stuff come from China these days...and we are happy to outsource our production to them still..AND lets not forget they make quality products as well.

Maybe I did a mistake...I guess I will find out.
Is there a quick way to test these caps ?

I received another batch of 20 today from another source:
These Nippon Chemi Con caps:

Did I repeat the same mistake or do the group approve they can be used in a planned 5KV 2A CCS supply?

Do you have any links to USA ones Harald other than JE/JEA which I
believe are Chinese with a new skin?

I found several links to Chinese TCI caps.

No date code found Carl...Regarding TCI I do not have a clue about
this vendor/manufacturer but I found some companies selling TCI
capasitors when searching the web. Pictured items I found indicated
TCI is Made in USA. But who knows these days...Maybe I will find out
how long they last one day..I have some spare..Anyone who wants some ?

My AMP Supply LK800 with the external Hi/Lo PAK are happy with the
capacitors I bought last year from K4POZ:

The price is in my humble opinion very good, and his service was
excellent.
You save a lot of money compared to the ones you refer to and even if
it is more work for you it takes much less space.

To the un-initiated, these look like an elegant solution to my HV

Am I
missing something? If anyone has an opinion, or direct experience of
using these, commentary would be appreciated.

If they are any good, any info on cheaper sources (or any for sale in
the
UK) would also be good.
