It's like an old saying about motorcycle riders, there are two kinds:
the ones who have gone down, and the ones who will.

Around 89 when I was in St. Louis and doing something with my old
SB220, Don't recall exactly what but I think I was putting in AG6K's
QSK mod. I had the cover off and was trying to be very careful not to
do anything stupid when testing my progress but I was having an issue
that wouldn't resolve (I believe it was with the biasing
arrangement).

I turned the power off, in a hurry, quickly turned the amp over to
access underneath and curling my fingers underneath to get a grip &
get it over, I forgot about the B+ being open underneath & though I
had killed the power, it still had nearly a full charge in the caps.
The power had been switched off for only maybe 2-3 seconds tops and
the next thing I knew I was standing against the far side of the wall
with no thoughts whatsoever, just like a newborn looking at the world
for the first time, didn't know who or what I was.

The first thing I remember coming to my head was thinking Abraham
Lincoln was a President of the United States but I had no idea why
that had come to mind. With that thought came the recognition
something had happened. It took me an hour or so to assure myself I
was OK and my memories were intact but I still have the scar on my
finger where the arc toasted me. Electroconvulsive shock therapy
incarnate.

I am a believer in near death experiences and extremely cautious
about anything HV ever since.
