Thank you for your response to my inquiry.

I failed to mention that I intend to use the SG-500 in compressed voice SSB
mode, so it should draw about 40 amps with a 40% duty-factor.  I realize power
draw will be significantly higher in digital, CW, AM modes, so if those modes
are required, exciter power would need to be reduced significantly to keep
amplifier power load within the operating parameters of my LiFePO4 battery
system based on this battery:

As my SG-500 will be part of a solar-powered portable station, the lighter
weight and flat discharge curve of LiFePO4 is preferable to lead-acid chemistry
for this application.  The complexity of designing the battery management
system, on the other hand, is somewhat more complex.  Fortunately, I enjoy a
challenge.

I'm curious about your reason for this statement:

The photograph of WA1GZY's installation at the bottom of this page:

reasonably functional choice.

According to the document here regarding LiFePO4 chemistry:

    "Resistance is strongly influence by temperature. The lower temperature,
    the higher resistance. The resistance at -20°C is 5 times greater than that
    at 25°C.

    The lower temperature the less available capacity, but when the temperature
    is more than 15 °C, the available capacity is essentially the same. At 15°C
    the available capacity is 98% of that at 25°C. The capacity remain 90% at
    0°C. The capacity remain 74.5% (cut off voltage 2.5V) and 87% (cut off
    voltage 2.0V) at -10°C . The capacity remain 56% (cut off voltage 2.5V) and
    72% (cut off voltage 2.0V) at -20°C."

I mention this in the hope that in your location you may find it of interest.
