For those who must have max-legal the 600w proposal is meaningless.

For the 10's of thousands who have owned and happily operated 600w
amps for decades it is not.

It is to that population I direct my request for a 600w discussion
alongside the 1.5KW discussion.

Thanks - David KD4E

Might we divide the discussion that way, please?

I submit that a 600W amp is more expensive to build.

Sounds counterintuitive, but when the question of WHY you would WANT a
600W amp is factored in, then the answer is clearer.

I'd want a 600W amp for mobile, and for SOTA, some portable, but nowhere
else. If I built or bought a 600W amp for home use, I'd be pretty
dissatisfied with it pretty quick, and then I'd be off looking for a
decent amp, as well as having the difficulty of trying to sell that amp
to someone who either hadn't thought it through properly, or genuinely
wanted to use it for mobile or SOTA. There is also the matter of the
time wasted trying a less than useful gadget.

No way would I build a 'too small' amp for any situation, and then make
do with second-best and be dissatisfied - that's very expensive.
