Our kids and probably grand kids will be old and possibly gone, while there will still be thousands of today's radios on the used market, so you'll still be able to purchase "real" radios, CHEAP even though the SDRs may offer better signals

I'm quite comfortable with SDRs as I spent much of my life working with computers and I even have work toward my masters in the field, but I have to admit, I like the feel of the top end, real radios and I like the glow of glass tubes in amps even though all of my amps are either SS, or external anode types. OTOH I have shelves loaded with 813s, 4-1000s, and even the Russian Pentodes that I'm going to build into amps...someday<sigh>

But if you don't like mice, I'm sure we can find a "trackball" somewhere <:-)

If you get a chance, take a look at one of the FlexRadio 6xxx series
and especially the spectrum display on a full screen second monitor.
Play around with the display a bit, expand and contract it etc, and I
suspect you will be hooked. Nothing like it. And don't go by pictures
on the internet. They don't do it justice.

I have had other radios with a built in spectrum display, but they are
like a go-kart next to a Ferrari. Technology has moved along.
