With 4 devices at $1,000, we are very close to the cost of tubes capable
of running any mode at the legal limit.

## Just checked RF parts for a laff. $769.00 buys you a new 8877.
$799.00 buys you a spanky new 3CX-3000A7. That extra $30.00
is well spent. TX IMD3 = -59db pep. Thats not bad for 7.3 kw out..
and not breaking a sweat.

## $1395.00 buys you a new 3CX-6000A7. Thats pretty good for
an easy 10-13 kw out.

## 1395.00 buys you a new 4CX-10,000D. Thats good for 20 kw out.

## $1400.00 bought a new 253 lb dahl 20 kva xfmr...with taps galore.

## vac tune + load caps are every where.

## No need for a slew of band switched LP or Diplexers, nor a mess
of combiners, nor a fully automatic ant tuner. Just a simple Pi net
input and Pi net output. No rocket science here folks. Toss in the
usual Grid + plate current meter, B+ and fil supply, and a TR relay.
Goes in one end... comes out the other end..but more of it.

## Buddy across town wound his plate choke using his BBQ
rotissere, worked really good. I supplied the 1 inch solid delrin rod,
he supplied the 22 ga magnet wire. I ran 5A CCS through it on the bench,
for .5 hr and it had zero heat. Ran at room temp..and cost $5.00.
Home depot supplied the .375 and .50 inch OD cu tubing. Heck, they
even had .625 and also .750 tubing. They all look pretty good after I silver
plated them.

## what do you get for your $8K SS amp ?

## If you want a table top amp, that OM-4000 looks good....and is rated at 4.5
kw out.
Uses a pair of cheap chinese tetrodes.

## folks want some bang for their buck, not a 100% ICAS rated affair.
