May the Great Gods of the Sunspots come out of their dormancy so that
we will all have a normal DXing , Dxpedition, and contesting life
again. Meanwhile, I'll continue to work towards Honor Roll on the
Worked All Neighbors Award. Going for all modes....TV, telephones,
VCRs, stereos, etc.
See ya'll in the pileups!

I think maybe you need to find a more ecconomical piano teacher,.....
just kidding.
>DXpeditions are a game for rich guys with families, or for single
>guys who aren't necessarily rich but just use their vacation time
>and budget for taking radios to warm places.
I've raised my family and now my wife and I go, but I still ain't rich! You
must be a politician, I'm rich when THEY want more tax money, I'm a poor
working class when they are defending me against another politician!
The fact is, I don't spend my money on new cars, I don't do the country
club, but my wife and I do like to travel. We are going to do more and if it
includes a contest weekend, great! My club gets some points, which is now
the SMC.
The cost of doing a DXpedition has little to do with the merit of the
DXpedition points counting for a club. It sounds like all local clubs do not
have ANYONE REALLY dedicated to contesting. Or, the people who belong to
local clubs are all poor! I don't think so!
You all are grasping at straws. Leave the straws in your drinks!

Al,
I would stay KE6BER and not sign /1 as a Six prefix will a little rarer on
the east coast. You do not have to sign /1. If you do, you become KE1.

Hi Wayne, a few observatiions here:
>1. There were accusations of Club sponserd DX-expeditions.
I don't recall reading this. BUT, if there were such things, would this =
be bad? I think it would be great!
>2 That FRC and PVRC wanted it so the rule was changed !!=20
I didn't think the fellas that said this took themselves seriously, so I =
didn't either. However the big clubs do have more members, so it could =
be argued that majority rules, etc.
>3. this applies to only the Big $$$ guys .=20
I think that when I mentioned the difficulties a small club would have =
mounting a DXpedition it was interpreted as being a money thing. My =
intent was that it is not in the nature of small clubs to have the type =
of members that go on DXpeditions. Remember, these ops are very often =
beginners.
>4. The CAC did not seek input from Contest community
I have re-read all the posts on this thread and I can't find any mention =
of this. Indeed, our club sent a letter containing our thoughts =
regarding the subject to our CAC rep. Now wether or not they listened to =
that input....
=20
>our CAC Rep is K3LR a NCC member and AA2DU is a YCCC member.=20
>neither PVRC or FRC members!!!!!!
But both belong to large clubs.
> 3. AS for this Rule being for the FILTHY RICH......
I ignore these comments, you should too.
>NOTHING SWEPT UNDER ANY CARPETS HERE=20
Again, I can't find any evidence of that accusation.
It seems everyone is missing the point. Let me repeat it one more time: =
Why can't we just exempt ONLY the Local Club Catagory from this rule? =
All the big clubs would get what they seem to want, and the Little clubs =
can still play on a level field. Doesn't this seem fair to you?
Regardless of how it may seem, I appreciate your thoughtful comments.

AGREED!

Think back, weren't you ever a beginner! The local club catagory is a =
breeding ground for the "dedicated" contestor. These small general =
purpose clubs are the ones that feed the major contest clubs. Maybe in a =
few years we'll all be wondering why we can't get any new members in the =
contesting fraternity. Putting this rule in effect for the local clubs =
is just another obstacle for beginners to over come.
