Yes there is electronic aparatus actually decoding the signals, but the
task of pulling the QSO information out of the hash should still be relegated
to our brains.

You guess wrong. :-) I like RTTY contests. I don't do all that well, but
I enjoy them nevertheless, HI! My PK-232 will print the stuff out for me
but I still have to pull "N2KJM" and "599 NJ" out of:
KEW3ND H3PP;J NDQX DE N2$JM N2K&MRSDWKJM 599 NLW#299 NJ QU$N* EWQSW(
This is where things like DSP filtering help, but ultimately human
translation is needed.
I still do RTTY contests the old-fashioned, tedious way. I have to try the
WF1B software to >>> AID <<< my RTTY contesting efforts.
