Welcome aboard Scott!
Hereby you joined the exclusive ranks of Contest Knights who care.
I got the same treatment when I pointed out outrageous signals from
IV3TAN/IG9 on 160 - that was from "Italian 300W", supposedly using FL2100,
but the secret is that they had to bring 3 phase 380V power service, the rest
is obvious. World record stands and I have been branded sore loser. But I
sleep well and those who know, know what happened and value the "record"
appropriately.
Another "bright" side of SSB contesting is some signals on the band that
managed to advance the art of SSB signal processing to the point, when some
stations manage to QRM themselves, so distorted that you can't make out the
callsing. Besides being distorted, they also manage to overdrive the amps and
get "nice" wide signals to keep the frequency clear and competition away.
Must be CB University graduates - you turn everything to max (clockwise) and
you be da man.
And I am not talking about some invading CBers that were lauder than many
hams. I guess we still have a thing or two to learn.

Yuri,
beach BUm, NT1Eh?
