Maybe 30 years ago was assigned for an Army Reserve summer camp to Camp
Ripley, MN. Had been active on 160 and phoned one of the big guns living
nearby and asked if I could drop by to check out the antenna system. Was
invited. Dropped by with the Chaplain and was entertained by this Hams wife
on the front porch for a while and then given a tour of the shack. The
non-Ham with me later asked why things were being moved around inside while
we waited. Power limit on 160 then was 50/100 watts.
Rumor is that that guy moved somewhere south of FL and isn't hamming
anymore. Maybe those antenna tuners exist(ed) outside of I and G.
