It's no different than we did in the late 70s/early 80s with second 
receivers, or heaven forbid, two complete C-lines.  Nobody talked much 
about it but listening for multipliers/openings on other bands has been 
a part of the arsenal of the top single ops for 30 years.  

Frankly, it's become easier and less costly in real terms in the last 
few years.  SO2R is actually coming into the range of the average 
operator these days.
