Let's say that there is an ethical way for a remote receiver to be used.
Perhaps the utility of this kind of remote receiver for gaining an unfair
competitive advantage is so low that its use for entertainment purposes by
anyone should be considered ethical...

(I'm not entirely convinced of that myself, but nonetheless...)

The fact remains that the CQWW rules do not discriminate between this kind
of remote receiver and the kind that _would_ pose obvious ethical problems
(such as where an operator could control the remote receiver and actively use
it to make QSOs.) The rules very clearly ban the use of _all_ remote
receivers during the contest, regardless of their apparent utility or
inutility for cheating.

If this technology should be generally available, then the rules need to be
adapted to no longer forbid it.
